Complementing the AF system of 9 points, the EOS 550D features a new dual layer sensor 63 zones. Considering data from focus, color and luminance around the chosen AF points, this system provides a very accurate measurement even in low light for best results. Since the sensor has color measurement functions, minimizing exposure errors and focus caused by different light sources, the EOS 550D provides constant exposure between pictures in situations with changing light, as in the theater or in a concert hall . This makes the EOS 550D ideal for scenes contrasts in lighting, the camera balances exposure of the main subject at the background, and the bright areas are not unduly influence exposures.
